Sondra grew up in Harlan, Iowa, and participated in track, basketball, and volleyball throughout high school. This is when she realized her passion for track, specifically high jump. Her ability helped her obtain an athletic scholarship to the University of Kansas where she studied Physical Education and Health. While at KU, Sondra was an academic All-American, a Big 12 Conference Champion and finished in the top 10 in the nation in her event. She is currently a Health and Physical Education Teacher in the Eudora School District. This is her tenth year teaching. Sondra also serves as the head coach of the middle school track and volleyball teams. She is very passionate about physical fitness and still competes in half and full marathons.
