Drew grew up playing a variety of sports before honing in on baseball at Shawnee Mission East High School. At Neosho County Community College, he helped the team with his  8-0 record, contributing to their NJCAA World Series appearance. At Southern Arkansas, he continued his baseball career while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Marketing. In 2009, the passion for teaching and athletics enticed him enough to pursue a post-graduate degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Kansas. During this time his education led him to the Energy Balance Lab where he worked as Graduate Research Assistant on weight loss management research studies. He used what he was learning in school to help achieve a USAT 2009 Long Course National Championship and a 2010 finish at Ironman Louisville. Drew is in his 5th year teaching at Turner High School as a Health and Physical Education Teacher.
